As humans became more intelligent, they found new and more effective ways to kill. And as people began living in larger groups, they needed more powerful weapons to defend themselves and fight in wars.

I read "Weird Weapons". A long time ago, weapons were made to kill animals or humans. the weapons were very simple at first, but they developed stronger and more dangerous as humans became more intelligent. Inventors discovered gunpowder in China in the 10th century. this material was used to make strong weapons such as fire rockets, cannons, and bombs, and enabled to kill large numbers of people in wars. I would like to introduce one of the impressive weapons. It is trebuchet. This was used in wars as an effective machine around the sea between southern Europe and Africa in the 12th century. It could carry a heavy weight and its long arm threw rocks, burning oil, or other things that could hurt enemies. This machines was also used to throw the dead animals and people into the place where enemies were because the dead bodies might make the enemies sick and died. I did not know that even dead bodies are used in wars, and I thought it was cruel and ruthless. This book made me sad and panful. However, you should read this story to learn about the history of early people and mistakes of the past.

Living in space may make you taller. When residents of Skylab, an early US space station, returned home, they had grown about centimeters taller. Living in Antarctica will not change your height at all.

I read "Life on the Edge". This book is about unlikely, dangerous, forgotten homes. The first place is Scott Bace in Antarctica. Many kinds of researchers live there. This place is a research center for scientists studying various things like climate change. Antarctica is a very cold and dark place, so it is fun for people who like to spend in the cold and dark. The second place is the International Space Station (ISS). It is 350 kilometers above the Earth. Since it is traveling at 28000 kilometers per hour, it takes only two days to arrive there. The ISS has many things to live such as beds, showers, food, so you can live almost life on earth. However, it is difficult to swallow food because there is not gravity. In this way, you can learn about various strange places.

Would you like to go hiking in a rainforest in the morning and then swim with fish and turtles in the afternoon? Is your dream vacation watching whales jump out of the ocean while you swim? How about seeing 33 different kinds of lemurs?

If you answered "yes," then Madagascar is the place for you!

I read "Madagascar".  You can learn about Madagascar, where is the fourth largest island in the world. It locates in the Indian Ocean, and the east coast of Africa. It has various plants and animals that live only there. For example, there are interesting chameleons. They may make their body green when they are happy, and they may change their body's color to yellow when they are angry. Moreover, there are lemurs. this species have many different sizes and shapes. After they eat many different kinds of fruit, they leave the seeds around there, so the seeds grow and new plants are generated. Therefore, lemurs are very important animals to develop their environment and ecosystem.

With a scream of pain, he felt the enormous boulder crash down on his right hand. Shaking from the pain and the shock, Aron slowly opened his eyes. What he saw filled him with horror.

I read "Trapped!" The main character is Aron, an experienced climber, 27 years old. he had climbed many mountains and this time he climbed down the final section of the canyon that is easy for him. However, he moved slowly down the canyon, a large rock was blocking his path. He tried to climb up this, but suddenly the rock fell down and his right arm crushed under the a lot of rocks. from then, he tried to pull his arm out of the rocks, or he tried to cut down his own arm, but he could not do it. Eventually, he managed to survive, but he had been there for about a week. It is very scarey experience, and I think you should not be careless about anything even though it is easy things for you because bad or dangerous things may happen.
